Dog hair consists of the protein compound keratin and dead skin cells. Whilst humans grow out of each follicle, sometimes dogs can grow multiple hair from the same follicle. In addition, most follicles in dogs have sebaceous glands, whose oil provides regular care for supple skin and soft hair. Healthy sebum production and new formation of follicles is closely linked to a 100% full and balanced diet of your dog, but even though good nutrition is essential for many breeds also regular grooming for a beautiful, shiny coat. Because dogs do not care for their own fur unlike cats. Daily brushing and weekly removal of the unusual undercoat is important for a healthy fur that is important for your dog's body. The dog coat is used to regulate body temperature, protect the skin from the elements, and the whiskers are their antennas for sensory perception. The coat care usually only affects two hair types: the undercoat and the top hair. When the hair stops growing, they are repelled by the hair follicle to make room for growing hair. Different breeds of dog hair vary. Loose hair that is not regularly removed from the fur can attract moisture and blend with dust, dirt or mud. If these are left in the coat, they become tangles over time, making it difficult to rebuild follicles. Removal of these tangles can therefore be painful for your dog or cause skin irritation that may lead to small injuries and inflammation. The lower coat layers can stay matted and become uncomfortable. Tangles often occur in areas where the fur is subject to increased friction, such as under the collar, behind the ears, under the elbows of the front legs or in the lower areas of the legs where it touches or the dog comes into contact with grass. The FURminator undercoat deShedding tool for long-haired very small dogs reduces loose hair by up to 99%. When used 1-2 times a week for 10 to 20 minutes on dry coat, as one of the 4 steps of the FURminator Ultimate Hair Reduction System. Suitable for very small dogs weighing less than 4.5 kg. Instructions: Before using the FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool, carry out a careful examination of your pet. Look for injuries, bruises and skin problems that can be hidden under the coat. If you find such signs in your pet, let them be treated by a vet before brushing. Also remove knots and tangles before using the care tool with the FURminator adjustable detangler or rake comb. Use the grooming tool like a brush and gently drive through your pet's fur in the direction of growth of the coat and with the stainless steel tines tilted towards the coat. Start at the head of your pet and work backwards with special care on abdomen, legs, genitals and after. Avoid excessive strokes in just one area and instead brush away from the skin through the coat with a few long, gentle strokes. Although the skin guard design prevents the edges from burning, and helps the tool glide over the skin, strong or coarse brushes can still irritate your pet's skin. So avoid brushing with too much pressure. If you notice redness or irritation, stop brushing. The undercoat absorbed by the blade can be easily removed from the tool with the practical FURejector push button.
